The
Trotwood-Madison High School Rams struck back in the air to try and contain
the Bluebird's rush. Both football teams were extremely excited to be invited
to the national Ohio vs USA Challenge.
Highlands
running back Zach Hurtt helped out the Bluebirds early running game against
the Rams resulting in two TD's in the first minutes of the game. This was a
premier match-up of the top high school football talent.
Trotwood quarterback
Dominic Britt gets some advice from coaches up in the box as the Rams try
to break the Highlands defense.

Hurtt cuts off
the Rams drive. Just before the Rams game, neighboring Northmont TBolts lost
to Pittsburgh's Central Catholic High School. Were the Rams about to suffer
the same fate?
It
was time to redefine the strategy. The defense gets a new gameplan on the sideline
to stop the Highlands early domination.
And
the new strategy starts to make a difference. Senior Ram linebacker Thomas Horn
didn't let go of this one.
The
offensive line found it's stride too giving Britt more time to get off several
passes and suddenly Trotwood was making headway.

And
it looks like the Rams have found the end zone with the help of Michael Shaw.
The
Rams help out the Referee with the call but there was not much time for celebration.
There was still work to do. The score at halftime Rams 14, Highlands 15. The
Rams had scored twice in the 2nd quarter.
Trotwood
high school faculty huddled on the field at half-time. The game was looking
up. Trotwood fans made the one hour trip to Cincinnati University's Nippert
Stadium and were on edge for the start of the second half. Unit Principal Terry
Logan, Principal Gerald Cox, Athletic Director James Ladd
The
fans rallied behind Roy Roundtree who caught the 2-point extra point conversion
during the first half.
Michael
Shaw showed some great footwork against the Bluebird's defense.
Trotwood
Fans rejoice after one of the Trotwood touchdowns. Unnofficial numbers suggested
there were more Ram Fans than their Highlands counterparts. (Some blamed the
nearby fireworks.)
Michael

And Dominc Britt
showed that he can run too picking up over 70 yards on the ground during the
game.

Things
got very serious during the third period as Trotwood tried to both hold Highlands
and find the goal line for a go ahead score.
Michael Shaw

Ryan Bell coming on like a freight train.
Even
quarterback Britt puts in a little blocking for Shaw as Trotwood finds ways
to move the ball.
But
Highlands gets into range and Drew Bathiany gets off this 24 yarder despite
a flying Ram's attempted block giving the Bluebirds 18.
Ram
Corey Dickens made a great sideline move to get past Brandon Roller. Trotwood's
Ike Washington got the go-ahead score in the 4th quarter making it 20-18. The
Rams had a great opportunity.
But
in the last 6 minutes Highlands grabbed an opportunity to take back the lead
and the game.
