Trotwood Zoning Administrator Carl Dougherty and Foodtown owner Jim Davis inspect the inside of the vacant Elder Beerman Outlet store earlier this year. Last week the city revealed preliminary plans to demolish the store and allow homes to be built east of Foodtown.
Fire demolished a barn on Union Rd early Thursday morning. Investigators blame the fire on smoldering mulch near the barn that traveled underground. The unusually dry weather should encourage everyone to be careful with fire.

It's time for the 10th Annual Iams Pioneer Harvest Fest. The fun event on October 11 features lots of antique tractors, hay ride, blacksmith demonstration and more. Watch them harvest the corn field out back with 1930's equipment. 10-5 pm at 349 S Broadway.
At last week's annual dinner of the Trotwood Democratic Club Mayor Darreyl Davis was named Democrat of the Year. He is pictured with the keynote speaker Jane Mitakides their candidate for US House of Representatives.
